Core Terms & Process

RFI (Request for Information)

An RFI is a non-binding market exploration before tendering a requirement.

When to use it. Requirement not yet sharply defined, unfamiliar supplier market, or a longlist needs reducing to a shortlist.

Typical content. Company profile, references, methodology, capacity, indicative pricing, certifications.

What an RFI is not. No binding offers, no award decision.

Two-stage process. RFI → RFP lowers effort and improves proposal quality at the second stage.
