Supplier performance measurement is the capture of what a supplier actually delivers, using defined metrics.
Measuring is not managing. Measurement produces numbers. Management uses them to change something. A metric with no owner and no consequence is measurement without management.
What makes a metric credible. A clear definition, a reliable data source, a named owner and a target tied to the contract or to operations.
Typical dimensions. Quality, on-time delivery, price adherence, service and responsiveness, compliance, risk.
Common mistakes. Too many metrics. Measuring what is easy to get instead of what was promised. Different definitions by site or evaluator. Data that only the supplier itself provides.
For services. The dimensions shift from delivery measures to outcome measures. See service performance measurement.
